Rivelino was a member of the lengendary 1970 World Cup winning team, famous for his powerful left-foot shots and superb ability from free-kicks. IMPORTANT Rivelino was an important member of Brazil's 1970team. In 1970, at the age of 23, he was considered not fit enough to last the full 90 minutes at central midfield. Zagalo moved him to play as in the attacking midfield position on the far left. With less defensive duties than Gerson and Clodoaldo, Rivelino excelled in the new position, scoring 3 goals in 7 games. It was Rivelino who scored Brazil's first goal of the competition with one of his celebrated free-kicks. Afterwards, he continued to torment opposing defenses and link perfectly with Tostao.
